Principal Civil Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Civil Engineer to join our Brisbane team. Responsibilities
- In partnership with the Engineering Manager, lead the coordination and resourcing of the design team to ensure project and client milestones are achieved.
- Oversee design operations to maintain high responsiveness to clients, project managers and authorities, ensuring delivery to Orion standards.
- Lead project design delivery, coordinating drafting activities and applying advanced proficiency in 12D/Civil 3D, DRAINS, MUSIC and AutoCAD.
- Manage project budgets, invoicing and fee proposals (including variations), ensuring commercial performance and technical excellence.
- Provide leadership in stakeholder engagement and business development, strengthening client relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
- Drive quality assurance and continuous improvement by ensuring compliance with the Quality Management System and Integrated Management System (IMS), while advancing engineering standards, best practices and innovative methodologies.
Skills and Expertise
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with RPEQ accreditation (or actively working towards registration).
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in civil engineering design within urban land development projects.
- Advanced proficiency in 12D/Civil 3D, DRAINS, MUSIC and AutoCAD, with strong technical capability in hydrological and hydraulic design.
- Demonstrated expertise in Australian Standards and LGA road and drainage design principles, with the ability to independently prepare road, lot and drainage strategies.
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate design and drafting activities, providing technical oversight and maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
- Strong leadership, communication and time management skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to meet project deadlines and budget requirements.
