We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join our Brisbane team. This fantastic role will suit someone looking to work on various projects in a friendly and supportive team with a growing market leader. This role is located in our Brisbane office, which is centrally located in the heart of the city’s CBD.

Responsibilities

  • Civil design primarily within urban development space, including roads, lot grading and drainage infrastructure.
  • Undertake documentation and design tasks with an advanced working knowledge in the use of 12D and Auto CAD software (minimum requirement).
  • Undertake documentation and design tasks with an advanced working knowledge in the use of XP-Rafts, DRAINS, TUFLOW, MUSIC software (desirable but not essential). 
  • Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving design issues and technical support to peers, as well as mentor junior staff to further develop the knowledge base and assist in career progression.
  • Coordinate design and drafting activities with drafters to provide drawing sets to Orion standards. 
  • Liaise with various project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and relevant authorities
  • Manage the invoicing and budgeting of projects. 
  • Ensure quality control processes for each project are implemented and documented. 
  • Ensure work output is of a technically high standard, meets client needs, and activities are commercially viable. 
  • Assist with growing and developing the company and its engineering standards to help provide a unique and modern design methodologies to be adopted by the company. 
  • To promote leadership and engagement across project teams and business units such that projects are executed in a manner that ensures delivery in line with client expectations.
  • Assistance with the preparation of fee proposals for new projects and contract variations that may span multiple disciplines.

 

Skills and Expertise

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 8+ years of civil engineering design experience in land development. 
  • Advanced experience in the use of 12D and Auto CAD software (minimum requirement). 
  • Advanced experience in the use of XP-Rafts, DRAINS, TUFLOW and MUSIC software (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of hydrological and hydraulic design principles. 
  • Demonstrated understanding and compliance with Australian standards and LGA road and drainage design principles. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare road, lot, and drainage strategies independently.  
  • Ability to coordinate design and drafting activities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. 
  • Excellent communication, computer and time management skills.
  • To be able to work both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Residential subdivision design, including earthworks, roads, drainage, water and sewer and local QLD experience (desirable). 
  • Stormwater management modelling (desirable).
