The Gregory Hills Drive project consisted of a 5km new dual carriageway from Camden Valley Way to Eaglevale Drive. The road provides a key link between Camden and Campbelltown and provides relief for traffic on Narellan Road.
Orion was engaged by Dart West Developments to provide principal’s representative services for stages 5, 6 and 7 of the project. This entailed construction of the final 2.4km of the dual carriageway, a single span bridge, protection slabs over Jemena and APA Trunk gas mains, and 3 new signalised intersections.
Service relocation of existing Telstra, Optus, Jemena and Endeavour Energy overhead HV mains was required prior to commencement of bulk earthworks. Lengthy lead times on service cutovers meant a staged earthworks approach was required to meet project timelines.
Further to this, a disused 1960s gas well was found during the civil works requiring extensive consultation with various government entities and specialists to cap and bury the well for the road construction.
Through early consultation with the client, Orion helped expedite discussions with network authorities to agree a combined services route to enable early relocation of services.
The gas well was also identified early through consultation with Landowners.Orion provided an effective solution to the problem by working with all stakeholders to agree on a safe method to cap and bury the redundant well.
Orion’s experienced site personnel, excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to manage challenging projects ensured the project was delivered ahead of time and on budget.
